COMMENCEMENT

Fall 2009 graduates degrees will be posted and diplomas mailed out by January 29th

December 2009 graduates, Spring and Summer 2010 candidates are invited to participate in the May Commencement Ceremony.  Candidates are invited to participate even though Spring grades are not posted.  Spring and Summer Candidates’ records will be checked again for final approval after grades are posted.  Important commencement information is listed below:

  1. COMMENCEMENT:  Commencement is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Municipal Auditorium located at 100 Auditorium Circle San Antonio Texas.

    Candidates should leave valuables (purses, cameras etc.) with family or friends.  Such articles left on vacant chairs while candidates are on stage may not be safe when left unattended.


  2. PARKING:   DUE TO THE LOCATION OF OUR GRADUATION CEREMONY, THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM, each student will need to secure, and pay for, his or her own parking. A map indicating several parking sights in the general area will be provided in your student packets.

  3. CAPS and GOWNS:  Participants planning to attend the ceremony must fill out name cards and pick up caps and gowns in the Fletcher Administration Center , Room 216. Caps and Gowns will be issued Tuesday March 29, 2010 through Thursday April 1, 2010, between 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In order to insure participation and to have students’ names printed in the program, caps and gowns must be picked up by April 1, 2010.

Souvenir caps and gowns are provided and may be retained as a keepsake of graduation.  If, after the gowns have been removed from their packaging and placed on hangers, they appear badly wrinkled, a quick press with a cool iron will restore a neat appearance.

Commencement invitations may be purchased through the campus bookstore.

  1. GRADUATION PICTURES/VIDEO:  A professional photographer from Flash Photography will be present during the graduation ceremony to take color pictures of individuals as they receive their diplomas.  Only the officially designated photographer will be permitted on stage during the ceremony.  The photographer will notify participants regarding pictures.  Video recordings by Action Video Productions can also be ordered on graduation day.
  2. DIPLOMAS:  Diploma covers are issued at the commencement ceremony containing a statement about the diplomas.  Diplomas are printed after the final review of grades each term.  Please verify your address online, www.accd.edu "Login to Student Services", prior to the end of the semester you are graduating.
  3. MISCELLANEOUS:  Candidates should leave valuables (purses, etc.) with family or friends.  Such items left on vacant chairs while candidates are on stage may not be safe when left unattended.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO ALL GRADUATE CANDIDATES

DUE TO THE LOCATION OF OUR GRADUATION CEREMONY, THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM, THE ISSUANCE OF TICKETS, (FOR STUDENTS’ GUESTS), WILL BE NECESSARY TO INSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE OCCUPANCY REGULATIONS SET BY THE FIRE MARSHAL. TICKETS WILL BE ISSUED TO EACH STUDENT ALONG WITH OTHER INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO THE CEREMONY WHEN STUDENTS PICK UP THEIR SOUVENIR CAPS AND GOWNS.
