GRADUATION

 

Requirements for Graduation

San Antonio College grants degrees of associate in arts, associate in sciences, associate in applied science, and numerous certificates.  A student may earn concurrent degrees and certificates to include an associate in arts, associate in sciences and multiple associate in applied science degrees with the stipulation that the requirements for each degree/certificate is met.

Good academic standing in the final semester is required for graduation from San Antonio College.  Transcripts from all colleges attended must be on file in the Office of Admissions and Records at San Antonio College prior to graduation.

Application for Graduation

Graduation applications are accepted after the completion of 30 college-level hours and at least 15 hours at San Antonio College.  An application for graduation must be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records at San Antonio by the following dates:
  Application through admissions due Application through Counseling & Departments due  
  November 7       for December graduation
  February 26   March 26 for May graduation
  July 1       for August graduation
Application submitted after these dates are processed with the next graduating class and diplomas/certificates reflect that date.  It is the responsibility of the student to request preparation of a degree plan after the completion of 30 semester hours toward that specific degree by filing an application for graduation with Office of Admissions and Records.  Students seeking certificates require fewer than 60 hours should file an application for graduation after completing half of the certificate requirements.  All candidates should list the bulletin under which graduation is requested when completing the application for graduation.  Online applications are at the following site:

Submit application to the Office of Admissions and Records, 1300 San Pedro, FAC 216, San Antonio, TX 78212.

A student has the option of meeting the degree requirements as outlined in the college bulletin in effect the date of first enrollment in degree required courses at San Antonio College or as outlined in any bulletin subsequent to the first enrollment date at San Antonio College.  Degree requirements must be completed within five academic years from the date of the bulletin chosen.  Prior to graduation evaluation, applicants must provide all transcripts reflecting their completed college record.  Candidates need not be enrolled during the semester that the application for graduation is made nor during the semester in which the degree is conferred.

Commencement

All candidates for degrees and certificates in December, May and August are encouraged to be present at the commencement exercises in May although attendance at the exercises is not mandatory.  Such participation is ceremonial only and confers on a student no rights to a degree.  There are no graduation, diploma, or gap and gown fees.  For information on current years commencement please go to the following site:
