 Law Enforcement Training Academy



Fast Facts:

  • San Antonio College Law Enforcement Academy has entered its 45th year of operation as an Academy licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). 
  • The Basic Peace Officer Course consists of 688 classroom hours of training.
  • Successful completion of the course allows the cadet to sit for the state peace officer licensing exam.
  • The Academy graduates over 250 Cadets each year.
  • The Academy provides in-service classes for police officers already licensed and currently working.
  • The Academy consists of 4 Phases.
  • Each Phase is 7 weeks long.
  • Academy schedule:
    • Morning Classes are scheduled on Monday-Friday from 8:30am-1:30pm. 
    • Evening Classes are scheduled on Monday-Friday from 5:30pm-10:30pm.
    • Weekend Classes are scheduled both Saturday and Sunday from 8am-5pm.
  • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) now covers students who qualify.
  • VA Benefits are also acceptable.
  • Cadets must have a minimum of a high school diploma from an accredited high school and be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Cadets must be 21 years of age at time of graduation.

Basic Police Officer Application Packet 

Applications will be accepted starting February 12th. 
Please email ALL documents to and you will be contacted with an appointment date.  


  Be Aware  
  All documents to include application, fingerprints, physical and psychological exams by our Medical team must be completed and approved by April 20,2018 to enter the academy. The mile and a half run must be run on a treadmill.
