San Antonio College is accepting students for the 2015 Summer EDGE Program

Program Dates: June 8, 2015-July 16, 2015

Program Times: Mon-Thurs 9am-4pm; Fridays 8am-1pm


 About the Program:

The Early Development of General Engineering (EDGE) Program is funded through a Department of Education Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP) grant.  Students that participate in the program must be US Citizens and will receive a $600 stipend for their participation.  As participants:

  • Students will gain credit for college level course work in Mathematics, Student Development and Intro to Engineering
    • Tuition depends on the amount of credit hours a student is registered for based on their Math placement and whether they are in the first or second year of the program.  Tuition may vary between approximately:
      •   $425-480 for In-District (Bexar County) Residents; and
      •  $999-1,172 for Out-of-District Residents
  • Students will participate in engineering/science-related hands-on labs and activities.  They will also attend field trips on Friday's.
  • Students will compete in team robotic competitions
  • Students will learn about the different fields in Engineering through guest speakers

* Math Level is determined by test placement and educational background.

Qualifications for placement in EDGE Year 2 are that the participant is either a returning EDGE participant that successfully completed Year 1 or the student is a high school senior.


  • STEP 1: Apply to be a San Antonio College Student:

Students that participate in the EDGE program are considered Early Admission College Students.  As such, all students interested in participating must complete the entire admissions process necessary to become a San Antonio College student. To aid students and parents in this process, the EDGE Program will host MANDATORY info sessions.  Any student interested in participating in the program MUST RSVP and attend one of the following sessions:

  •  Saturday - February 7, 2015 @ 9am or 11am
  •  Tuesday February 10, 2015 @ 5:30pm
  • Saturday - March 7, 2015 @ 9am or 11 am

A portion of the session will be designated to submitting an ApplyTexas application for Summer 2015 enrollment. In preparation for this portion of the session please review and be prepared to answer the requested information on the second page of the EDGE packet. To RSVP please e-mail or call Mrs. Analisa G. Sengele at or 210-486-1825.  Space is limited to 15-30 students per session depending on the classroom location.  Please register as soon as possible.

  • STEP 2: Submit the EDGE Program Packet by Friday March 13, 2015. The packet includes:
    • A current official high school transcript (may be a current official incomplete high school transcript).
    • A signed letter of the recommendation from a high school counselor (form provided on third page).
    • A copy of the bacterial meningitis vaccination confirmation receipt from Magnus Health
    • An EDGE Program Application (application on pages 4-6 of the packet)
  • STEP 3: Complete the ALAMO ENROLL Checklist by Saturday April 11, 2015
    •  This process includes completing the Modules for Admission to San Antonio College, the TSI, and submission of the bacterial meningitis vaccination to Magnus Health
    • This process may take between 2-4weeks to complete.  Depending on TSI placement scores, students may be required to take a Math or English refresher course offered in March.
    • The EDGE program recommends working on completing the enrollment checklist during February and March.
*Admission is based on student qualifications, college placement test, and application statements. Acceptance announcements will begin - May 8, 2015 and the program will begin on June 8, 2015.  If accepted to the program students must pay a non-refundable $25 fee by - May 22, 2015
