1 1/12 Read chapt. 1 “Tellings and Retellings” in Retellings pp. 3-29. Write 1-2 page critical response (topic given in class).
1/14 Skim Appendix A-4-A-40 and/or your handbook about writing and using MLA Documentation in academic papers.   Rewrite 1/12 assignment with proper use of quotes, MLA manuscript form and documentation style. Start Antigone, pp. 1005-1025 to scene II.
2 1/19 Read the rest of Antigone, pp. 1025-1043.  Write 1-2 page response. Topic given in class.
1/21 Working with Antigone text. Essay #1 Topic given.  Draft 1 due next class—250-500 word freewriting response to topic.
3 1/26 In-class sharing response. In class work on what is a “Critical Essay.” Mini-outline done in-class. Full Outline due next class. Draft 1-2 due next class.
1/28 In class peer response. Finish peer responses.  Draft 2 Writer’s review.
4 2/2 Workshop on using quotes and on punctuation/editing. Hwk. Draft 1-3
2/4 Final draft of Essay #1 (E1-3 due today). Hwk. Begin reading Hamlet Act I and II.
5 2/9 Finish reading Hamlet.
2/11 Read Introduction of Rewriting. Read "Coming to Terms" in Rewriting . Write a "coming to terms" of his chapter. Essay #2 assignment sheet given. Proposal Due for "Retelling Piece" next class.
