San Antonio College will mark the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy with a somber ceremony beginning at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The procession will originate at the Candler PE Center and end at the 9/11 plaque near the Chance Academic Center. Robert Chalk will play the bagpipes along the route.
A SAC music student will sing "America the
Beautiful" and it will be followed by a moment of
silence at 9:46 a.m. President Robert Zeigler will offer words of remembrance before a floral wreath is placed at the memorial.
Grady Peavy Jr., a 1996 graduate of SAC Mortuary Science, will sing "America." Peavy is currently the Mortuary Affairs Coordinator at Fort Sam Houston.
The event with close with the playing of "Amazing Grace." Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to
stop at the Student Life table and write down how they plan to honor the victims.
"Its about keeping alive the remarkable spirit of unity
and service that we all shared after the 9/11 attacks."
