Dr. Carol A. Keller
San Antonio College

History 1301 is a general survey of United States history from the discovery of America through 1877. It satisfies one-half the legislative requirement of six semester hours in American History.

The purpose of this course is to survey United States History from the era of discovery through the American Civil War and the Reconstruction decade. The intent of our class sessions is to engage students in the process of historical analysis—to train you to think like an historian. Each of you will be challenged to think about history in new and different ways. Read the Online standard HIST 1301 department course syllabus.

The course may apply toward San Antonio College Associate in Arts (AA) degree in International Studies . You may also apply course credit toward completing a 12-hour international concentration for an International Studies Local Certificate.

* Congratulations, this section of History 1301 has been selected for the  Internationalizing the Curriculum initiative at SAC. What does this mean for students? There is no additional work, but the work assigned will shift focus to increase our understanding of the American past in an international perspective. Pay special attention to the global icon when you see it in your Nation of Nations textbook and the course Web pages.
