LANDMARKS OF AMERICAN HISTORY & CULTURE WORKSHOP During summer 2006 I was privileged to be a participant at the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshop, Henry Ford and American Industrial, Labor, and Cultural History. The workshop, held at Henry Ford Community College, was directed by Professor Michael Daher and designed to invite community college faculty from a broad range of disciplines to explore the nature and relevance of the cultural, social, and commercial revolution generated by Henry Ford. The desired outcome of the workshop was for each participant to advance their own scholarship and to develop a curriculum project to make connections between what they learn in the workshop and what they teach. My curriculum project provides a Problem Based Learning Module for the World History since 1500 course I teach. The project, Globalizing Henry Ford's America: From Greenfield Village to the Twenty-first Century, will be piloted during spring 2007 semester. Additional project site menu items include a list of Participants, Commentators and their presentation topics, a link to the Workshop Website, and Photo Albums of Workshop activities. |
