Instructor's Biography

Dr. Lee received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996.  Before that he received an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University and a B.A. in International Studies from Virginia Tech.  He previously served as an Assistant Instructor at the University of Texas and as an Adjunct Instructor at Austin Community College.

He is currently the Facilitator for Internationalizing the Curriculum at San Antonio College and past president of the World History Association of Texas. During the 2006-2007 academic year he served on the Advanced Placement World History Redesign Commission for the College Board. He has also organized and participated in several AP World History workshops for Secondary Instructors. For several years he has served as a content reviewer for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Social Studies Exam. During the 2007-2008 Academic Year, he served as the Co-Chair of the Social Science Vertical Team created by the Texas Legislature's House Bill 1 in order to create College Ready Standards for the state and foster a culture of greater college success and readiness throughout the state of Texas. The Vertical Teams report can be found here starting page 35. - As Co-Chair of this team, he also represents the Social Sciences on the Commission for College Ready Texas. Dr Lee also serves on the Faculty Senate, the Murgia Learning Institute Advisory Board, and the Writing Center Advisory Board.

Dr. Lee's other interest include the University of Texas sports machine, of course.  (He bleeds orange.)  He also likes movies, cooking, television, and watching and participating in other sports such as tennis, track and field, and basketball.
