Advanced Method for Website Development
        See and learn how stylesheets, server-side includes, javascript,
        and active server  pages (ASP) were used in the creation of the 
        Instructional Technology Center's Website. The role of content |
        planning and organization will also be discussed.

AlaMOO
        This presentation describes a proposed Educational MOO
        for the Alamo Community College District. MOO stands for
        MultiUserDomain (or Dimension or Dungeon) Object Oriented.
        Basically, in MOOs multiple users can log into a site to
       converse in a text-based virtual reality. They can also interact
        with objects (teaching tools that can be built and programmed
        to respond).  MOOs are internet accessible, text mediated
        virtual environments well suited for distance learning. MOOs
        also offer every participant the opportunity to construct spaces
        and objects and to write code that in some way augments or
        increases the functionality with these virtual spaces. In this
        sense, MOOs are constructed social spaces in a dynamic
        process of continual evolution.  In recent years, MOOs have
        increasingly been created for educational purposes.  Come
        hear this presentation on what an Educational MOO can mean
        for the Alamo Community College District.

         documents for Arts and Sciences faculty use.

         packages  for tenure, promotion and class change on the web
         uniformity  as an attempt at and accuracy.

        for use in the "new" online learning environment.  This course

        into online courses to help promote learning.

Budget Tracking for ACCD Accounts with Excel Spreadsheets
        Experienced ACCD budget managers are aware that the 
        balances shown in the Advantage system often do not prove 
        to be accurate.  There can be a delayed reaction in the system 
        in showing deductions for what has been expended.  When
        viewing the Advantage screens, it is it may show more money 
        than is actually there.

        Come to this class and get a Microsoft  Excel spreadsheet 
        template which has been set up for each object code and 
        automatically calculates an accurate  balance as you type in 
        the amounts that are encumbered and or expended.  By doing
        so there is no guess work in what is left to be spent.  You can

       For Promoting Faculty Web Page
        Departmental Web Developers are encouraged to attend this
        two-hour session which will provide easy solutions for placing
        numerous Faculty web pages online quickly. If possible, Web
        Developers should bring a floppy or Zip disk with the syllabi
        for each instructor as well as any other pertinent Faculty data
        such as office hours and contact information.

Digital Video Options & Ideas - Seminar
        Learn about the digital video cameras and editing equipment
        available at the Instructional Technology Center. This class 
        will feature hands-on experience with our Canon and JVC 
        miniDV digital video cameras, Macintosh editing computers, 
        and the iMovie and Premiere editing programs. Video shots
        by participants will be uploaded to the Web for later viewing 
        and also transferred to VHS video. Ideas for teaching 
        applications for digital video will be discussed.

        Not all students lean in the same way, and their learning styles

        web content and produce detailed reports on level of compliance.
        The ACCD enterprise license is for LIFT machine and LIFT for
        Dreamweaver software.

LIFT machine allows web page developers to test and monitor web
pages for compliance with W3C and US Section 508 accessibility
guidelines. LIFT software conducts a site-wide analysis of intranet,
extranet and internet content, including both static and dynamic pages
and then generates detailed, interactive results of reviews and repairs.

         "MyDropBox" is designed to detect the degree to which a document is 
         original.  To examine a document, the text is copied and the pasted

        Tests can be administered to students by way for
        the Internet with this software.

Testing On-line - Questionmark Perception
        Questions may be used for assessments such as
        tests, surveys, and questionnaires.  The program will
        grade the test on all types of questions except essays
        and store the answers for the instructor to view and record.
        The assessments may also be delivered through a
        SECURED BROWSER environment to increase test security.

         When a student takes an assessment on the Internet, the program 
         will grade the test on all types of questions and store the answers
         for the instructor to view and record.

            There are five parts to the software training:

1.    Question manager,
        -    Questions of all kinds are prepared.
              e.g. true false, multiple choice, fill in the blank, 
              hot spot, drag & drop answers, multiple answer, 
              numeric, essay.

        -    Questions are saved to a database on your

Three Dimensional - 3D Objects for the Web - Introduction
        This class is an exciting yet gentle introduction to the world of 
        3D. Learn to create simple 3D Objects (Models) and present 
        them on a web page. There are many applications that 3D is 
        especially suited for such as: Showing EMS students the 
        precise location to perform an action on a patient, Showing 
        chemistry and physics students the structure of a small
        particle, representing a complex piece of equipment for

Videoconferencing: Overview
        An overview of Distance Learning Utilizing Videoconferencing
        technologies. This class includes the various aspects of 
        Distance Learning and is an introduction to videocapabilities, 
        interactive teaching strategies, problems that might be 
        encountered, and course preparation.

Videoconferencing: Teaching Strategies
        The class will cover preparation of course materials and
        presentation strategies for videoconferencing instruction
        which is delivered at the same time to a local class and a class
        in another city.  Videoconferencing is sometimes referred to as, 
        two-way interactive television.

Videoconferencing: Equiment Usage
        An introduction of the use of video conferencing equipment.
        Attendees will learn about using two-way interactive television 
        to provide instruction to a distant class site.  When using this 
        medium, students and the instructor at the local site are able to 
        see, hear, and speak with students at the distant site.   The 
        instructor is able to transmit presentations, hard copy 
        documents, and motion video to the students at both 
        locations.  This session includes hands-on training
        with the videoconferencing equipment..

WebCT Assistance for Internet Course Development
        This is not a formal class; the instruction is tailored to meet the
        needs of the individual faculty member who comes for 
        assistance. During this time period, the WebCT Coordinator is 
        available to assist current Internet faculty or those planning to 
        teach on the Internet.

WebCT - #1 - Introduction
        Come and see how Web CT can assist you with the 
        development of your Internet courses.  It provides a shell that 
        manages all parts of your Internet course instruction,
        communications, test administration and scoring, and includes 
        an on-line gradebook

WebCT - #2 - Content Module, Drop Box, My Grades, Progress
        In this class, you will learn to input your course content int
        WebCT and organize it for sutudents to use. You will learn
        how students can upload their homework into the Drop Box,
        then see their grades and track their progress in the course.

WebCT - #3 - Communication Tools
        During this class, you will learn about the WebCT email program,
        which is closed to the outside world. Students can not email into
        or out of this email program. The other communication tools that
        will be introduced are Discussion, Calendar, Student Progress and
        Tracking. You will also learn how to integrate DigiChat, which is
        separate from WebCT, into your class.

WebCT - #4 - Quiz (Testing) Module
        The WebCt Test Module enables the instructor to write questions
        and answers, randomize the questions selected of questions, 
        give feedback for right or wrong answers, score the test, and 
        place the student's grade in the on-line gradebook.

        During this class you will learn how to develop multiple-choice,
        short answer, true or false, and essay tests that can be 
        delivered over the Internet.

        Respondus, an off-line test development tool that integrates with
        WebCT, will be demonstrated.

        This session will include the following:
                1.  Back up your course from one semester or previous

                     to use while refining or developing your course
                     until your course is ready to deliver to a class.
                4. Upload your course to the WebCT ePortal server
                     and configure it for your new class.
