        This presentation describes a proposed Educational MOO
        for the Alamo Community College District. MOO stands for
        MultiUserDomain (or Dimension or Dungeon) Object Oriented.
        Basically, in MOOs multiple users can log into a site to
       converse in a text-based virtual reality. They can also interact
        with objects (teaching tools that can be built and programmed
        to respond).  MOOs are internet accessible, text mediated
        virtual environments well suited for distance learning. MOOs
        also offer every participant the opportunity to construct spaces
        and objects and to write code that in some way augments or
        increases the functionality with these virtual spaces. In this
        sense, MOOs are constructed social spaces in a dynamic
        process of continual evolution.  In recent years, MOOs have
        increasingly been created for educational purposes.  Come

        Not all students lean in the same way, and their learning styles
        may be different from that of their instructors.  This brief workshop: 

1) Provides a brief overviews of the concept of learning styles
2)  Use on-line surveys to identify the instructor's and student's
     preferred learning styles
3)  Offers some suggestions about how to design instruction
      that addresses various learning styles and either "match"
     or "mismatch" a students preferred learning style

        "LIFT is a web accessibility software tool which will scan and analyze
        web content and produce detailed reports on level of compliance.
        The ACCD enterprise license is for LIFT machine and LIFT for
        Dreamweaver software.

LIFT machine allows web page developers to test and monitor web
pages for compliance with W3C and US Section 508 accessibility
guidelines. LIFT software conducts a site-wide analysis of intranet,
extranet and internet content, including both static and dynamic pages
and then generates detailed, interactive results of reviews and repairs.

LIFT for Macromedia Dreamweaver and UltraDev is an invaluable
tool that webmasters can dynamically employ to create usable and

MyDropBox- Plagiarism detection & Assignment Submission Software
         "MyDropBox" is designed to detect the degree to which a document is 
         original.  To examine a document, the text is copied and the pasted
         into the "MyDropBox" software, and the text is compared with existing 
         documents stored within "MyDropBox" and with everything on the
         Internet.  Plagiarized or quoted text is indicated, and a rating is given
         based on what percerntage of the document is not original.

         "MyDropBox" can also be used for students to submit their

        Tests can be administered to students by way for
        the Internet with this software.

Testing On-line - Questionmark Perception
        Questions may be used for assessments such as
        tests, surveys, and questionnaires.  The program will
        grade the test on all types of questions except essays
        and store the answers for the instructor to view and record.
        The assessments may also be delivered through a
        SECURED BROWSER environment to increase test security.

         When a student takes an assessment on the Internet, the program 
         will grade the test on all types of questions and store the answers
         for the instructor to view and record.

            There are five parts to the software training:

1.    Question manager,
        -    Questions of all kinds are prepared.
              e.g. true false, multiple choice, fill in the blank, 
              hot spot, drag & drop answers, multiple answer, 
              numeric, essay.
        -    Images and other media may be included.
        -    Questions are saved to a database on your 
              computer for use in the future.

2. Assessment manager,
        -    Questions are selected and put into a test

        -    The questions may be randomly selected to 
              provide an unique test for each individual.

        -    Based on results, a student may be hot linked to

        -    The instructor may get a report on the test

Three Dimensional - 3D Objects for the Web - Introduction
        This class is an exciting yet gentle introduction to the world of 
        3D. Learn to create simple 3D Objects (Models) and present 
        them on a web page. There are many applications that 3D is 
        especially suited for such as: Showing EMS students the 
        precise location to perform an action on a patient, Showing 
        chemistry and physics students the structure of a small
        particle, representing a complex piece of equipment for

Uploading Web Pages to the ACCD Enterprise Server
                Participants will learn how to:
                1.    Get a password and Web directory
                2.    Log on to the ACCD Enterprise Web server
                3.    How to place their Web pages on the server
                4.    How to link have their pages linked up.

VCT - Virtual College of Texas Instructor Training - 1
        This class is designed for current VCT faculty to help them learn to
         use SIS and the VCT web site to access student and course
         information. Topics covered will include  the following:
        1)    Adding and dropping VCT students through SIS
        2)    Logging in to the VCT web site
        3)    Accessing student data
        4)    Checking enrollment
        5)    Adding, deleting, & making changes to VCT Catalog course entries

Video Capture & Editing with Premier
        Prepare video to be inserted into a multimedia presentation
        or stored on on your computer or CD.
        1)    Capture motion video from a standard video cassette,
        2)    Digitize it
        3)    Save it to the computer

Videoconferencing: Overview
        An overview of Distance Learning Utilizing Videoconferencing
        technologies. This class includes the various aspects of 
        Distance Learning and is an introduction to videocapabilities, 
        interactive teaching strategies, problems that might be 
        encountered, and course preparation.

Videoconferencing: Teaching Strategies
        The class will cover preparation of course materials and
        presentation strategies for videoconferencing instruction
        which is delivered at the same time to a local class and a class
        in another city.  Videoconferencing is sometimes referred to as, 
        two-way interactive television.

Videoconferencing: Equiment Usage
        An introduction of the use of video conferencing equipment.
        Attendees will learn about using two-way interactive television 
        to provide instruction to a distant class site.  When using this 
        medium, students and the instructor at the local site are able to 
        see, hear, and speak with students at the distant site.   The 
        instructor is able to transmit presentations, hard copy 
        documents, and motion video to the students at both 
        locations.  This session includes hands-on training
        with the videoconferencing equipment..

        This session includes hands-on training with the 
        videoconferencing equipment and peripheral devices.

        extensions, graphic editing with cropping tool,
       re-sizing, and file comression.

        Learn the Basics of page layout & design to make slick sites
        with easy navigation controls.

Web Screen Design Aesthetics & ADA
        Develop your web page aesthetics.  Learn how to design and
        develop Web pages that get and hold the readers attention.
        Topics covered include layout, custom navigation bars, how
        to use graphic elements effectively, and make them accessable
        to disabled users.

WECM Web Site
        The instructor will provide an overview of the WECM
        Web site, then the attendees will have the opportunity
       for hands-on investigation of the site.

Web Site Management, Ethics, & Security - Introduction
        This class will provide the beginning Web site developer with
        vital information necessary to constructing and maintaining
        a personal or departmental Web site.

WebCT Assistance for Internet Course Development
        This is not a formal class; the instruction is tailored to meet the
        needs of the individual faculty member who comes for 
        assistance. During this time period, the WebCT Coordinator is 
        available to assist current Internet faculty or those planning to 
        teach on the Internet.

WebCT - #1 - Introduction
        Come and see how Web CT can assist you with the 
        development of your Internet courses.  It provides a shell that 
        manages all parts of your Internet course instruction,
        communications, test administration and scoring, and includes 
        an on-line gradebook

WebCT - #2 - Content Module, Drop Box, My Grades, Progress
        In this class, you will learn to input your course content int
        WebCT and organize it for sutudents to use. You will learn
        how students can upload their homework into the Drop Box,
        then see their grades and track their progress in the course.

WebCT - #3 - Communication Tools
        During this class, you will learn about the WebCT email program,
        which is closed to the outside world. Students can not email into
        or out of this email program. The other communication tools that
        will be introduced are Discussion, Calendar, Student Progress and
        Tracking. You will also learn how to integrate DigiChat, which is
        separate from WebCT, into your class.

WebCT - #4 - Quiz (Testing) Module
        The WebCt Test Module enables the instructor to write questions
        and answers, randomize the questions selected of questions, 
        give feedback for right or wrong answers, score the test, and 
        place the student's grade in the on-line gradebook.

        During this class you will learn how to develop multiple-choice,
        short answer, true or false, and essay tests that can be 
        delivered over the Internet.

        Respondus, an off-line test development tool that integrates with
        WebCT, will be demonstrated.

WebCT - #5 - Backup a course & Import to New Semester or Version
        This session will include the following:
                1.  Back up your course from one semester or previous
                     WebCT version.
                2. Ensure that our course is designated as a WebCT course
                    and available for students to access in the SAC ePortal.
                3. Steps to obtain a WebCT development course site
                     to use while refining or developing your course
                     until your course is ready to deliver to a class.
                4. Upload your course to the WebCT ePortal server
                     and configure it for your new class.

        new up-graded faculty workstations or others
        using Windows NT on their workstations.

        The term wireless networking refers to technology that enables two or more
         computers to communicate using standard wireless network protocols, but
         without network cabling.  All about wireless connections, speeds, and system
         issues.

        Intro. includes creating a New Document and entering Text, moving
        around in a a document, correcting errors using the backspace and delete
        keys, correcting spelling and grammar errors, saving a document, and
        printing and closing a document.
