How   to   Schedule   Library   Instruction

  • What is Library Instruction?

One of the primary methods for providing library instruction at San Antonio College is by librarian-taught Library Instruction Sessions. Each instruction session is tailored to the subject, topics, and assignment identified by the classroom instructor. The sessions will teach students how to:
    • Develop a questioning approach to identify information need
    • Determine a research strategy for an assignment
    • Evaluate sources pertinent to a topic.

The class instructor or a qualified faculty substitute must accompany the class during the session.

  • When are Library Instruction Sessions offered?

Library Instruction Sessions are taught by appointment only and may be scheduled for any regular class meeting time. During the Fall and Spring semesters, requests must be submitted five working days prior to the date requested.
During the Summer semesters, requests must be submitted a minimum of three working days prior to the date requested.

  • Where are the library instruction classes held?

The library instruction classes are held in MLC 229 and MLC 230 on the second floor of the Moody Learning Center.

  • How can I schedule Library Instruction?

To schedule a Group Instruction Session, stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the Moody Learning Center , call 733- 2477, or click Library Instruction to submit an online request.
