SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 25, 2012) - Area elementary school students get some
hands-on learning with robots at the SpaceTeams Summer Robotics Camp this
week at San Antonio College.
Students are learning about space and robotic exploration
using Lego Mindstorms NXT kits. They are constructing robots and learning to
program them using laptop computers. This robotics program aims to promote
learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math using
robotics as a tool to motivate students to learn while having fun.
On Friday, the final day of camp, family and friends will attend a
mock tournament/exposition in the ground-floor Chill Lounge in the Chance
Academic Center.
Klaus Bartels, adjunct professor in the Physics, Engineering
and Architecture Department, is the instructor for SpaceTeams Camp.
The Space Teams Summer Robotics Camp is primarily for
students in grades three through five. Funding for the camp is provided by Rackspace
Hosting.
