President Dr.
Robert E. Zeigler was one of the featured speakers last weekend at the Texas Community
College Teachers Association (TCCTA) conference in Sugarland. His presentation,
“The Struggle for Ethical Leadership in Changing Times,” was part of the overall
conference theme: “Leading from the Middle.” Dr. Zeigler gave the evening
keynote presentation.
The TCCTA
conference is designed for mid-level administrators at Texas two-year colleges.
It is a kind of "boot camp" for deans, division chairs, IT directors,
student services directors, and others. The group addresses legal issues,
educational technology, legislative and budget orientation, leadership skills,
ethics, and other areas that directly affect their performance.
In his
presentation Dr. Zeigler told the
audience that the essential leadership
qualities for effectiveness and integrity include “teamwork, courage,
articulation, enjoyment, humor, and
shared governance. “
“Ethical behavior pays. You must believe ethics has an intrinsic
value worth the effort.”
