Welcome Days at SAC

Hundreds of new and returning students took part in the spring 2013 Welcome Days activities  January 22 and 23 at San Antonio College. Several departments, including Student Retention, Public Relations, Student Life, Technology Services, and Scholarships, collaborated to bring a more comprehensive and festive experience for students, including the newly created SUCCESS Zone, a focal point of the activity.

The SUCCESS Zone brought all of the College’s academic resources including the library, math tutor lab, writing center, and more, to the Mall area where students could get information about the various resources available. Students who visited at least five tables were able to enter a raffle for one of two $250 scholarships.

"The SUCCESS Zone was created to give new and returning students information about available resources on campus," said   Mona Aldana-Ramirez, director of Retention Support Services."

Also part of Welcome Days, the SAC PR Team and college volunteers distributed maps, directions, and SAC giveaways at “Info Tables.” Centered in the Mall, the Office of Student Life gave snacks, drinks and free SAC T-shirts to more than 1,200 students.

The Office of Technology Services set up a remote help desk to assist with issues related to ACES and technology. Other activities included: a blood drive, an info session about leasing in Tobin Lofts @ San Antonio College, and a presentation about personal wellness.
