T-STEM Challenge Scholarship Program

Through a grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, San Antonio College will award scholarships to full-time students pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and select Allied Health degrees. Scholarship awards will be for amounts of $2,500 for the year ($1,000 awarded at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters, and $500 awarded at the end of the summer semester). Incomplete applications, such as those missing high school transcripts will not be considered.

Requirements for consideration include:    

  • Be a declared major in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Biology, Math, Physical Sciences, or select Allied Health
  • Be a SAC student as listed on your unofficial transcript
  • Submit an official high school transcript to the T-STEM Liaison
  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 in math and science courses
  • Agree to complete 30 hours during the current Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on your current college transcript (if applicable)
  • Complete 80% of coursework per semester
  • Complete other scholarship requirements
  • Financial need is not required
  • Men between the ages of 18 and 25 must be registered with the Selective Service System:

META Scholarship Program 

(Motivating Engineers To Achieve)

META Scholarships are available through and NSF - S-STEM (META) program for San Antonio College Engineering Majors.  Entry to the program is competitive and those chosen to participate in the program can receive up to $10,000 in scholarship money every year (depending on their unmet financial need).  If chosen for the program, META Scholars must become a MESA member and complete the MESA membership requirements.  In addition to the MESA requirements, META scholars must:

META Scholar Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen, National, Refugee, or Permanent Resident
  • Must be majoring in Engineering (CIP14) and enrolled full-time with San Antonio College as your home institution
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or better
  • Must demonstrate financial need through a completed FASFA and be in good standing with our Financial Aid Office
  • Please check with the MESA Center regarding the application packet deadline
