Scobee Planetarium Public Friday Programs for March & April 2017
Each Friday evening, the doors open at 6:00pm with ticket sales in the Lackey & Camp Casper Ticket Booth 30 minutes prior to each presentation. We can support credit card, cash & check sales. Sorry, no debit card sales.
Tickets: $5/adult $4/child, seniors & military with ID, $2/Alamo Colleges personnel and students with current ID
6:30pm The Perfect Little Planet Family presentation with no children age restrictions
7:30pm The Sky Tonight Live Presentation Children must be 6yrs or older to attend
9:00pm DOUBLE FEATURE Extreme Planets & Dynamic Earth Children must be 6yrs or older to attend
The Scalan Observatory telescope is only available following the last planetarium program of the evening if weather and staffing permits. The planetarium programs will run as scheduled with doors opening at 6:00pm for the first program. The observatory telescope decision may be made as the evening progresses. There is no fee for this service. The first Friday of each month, weather permitting, the San Antonio Astronomical Association (SAAA) sets up telescopes on the front terrace areas of our center for free viewing of the heavens. This group's participation may replace the Scalan observatory viewing on these nights.
Summer Camps Registration Launched
There are four summer camp programs offered at the Scobee Education Center for the summer of 2017.
The Astronauts in Training camp being held June 12-16 is already close to capacity, while there are still spots available in the Cosmic Kids Camp (3-5th Grades) June 26-30, Explorers Camp (6-8 Grades) July 10-14 and Camp Challenger for Girls (6-8 Grade) July 24-28.

Fiesta de La Tierra Challenger Earth Day Mission

On Friday, April 21st, you can experience the excitement of a simulated space mission at the Scobee Education Center's Challenger Learning Center as we honor the upcoming celebration of National Earth Day on April 22nd, and join in on San Antonio’s annual Fiesta traditions!
Mexican botanas (snacks) and non-alcoholic drinks will be served.
All crew members will receive the limited edition 2017 Scobee Education Center fiesta medal. Third in the collectible series, the 2017 fiesta medal commemorates the Challenger STS-51L crew, showcases the 3 Challenger Learning Center missions launching at the Scobee, and highlights the first total solar eclipse visible from the continental United States in nearly four decades, this August!
Fiesta de la Tierra tickets are only $20 per person and will include a limited edition Scobee Ed. Ctr. 2017 Fiesta Medal.
Two lucky participants will be named Scobee Education Center Fiesta King & Queen for 2017.
YOU could be Scobee Royalty!
Children must be reading at a 6th grade level or higher and be accompanied by a parent to participate in the adventure.
