The mission of the St. Philip's College Plumbing program is to train prospective plumbers to prepare for the State of Texas licensing requirements as: Apprentice Plumbers, Tradesman Plumbers, Journeyman Plumbers, and Master Plumbers.

We the faculty of St. Philip’s College Plumbing program, take pride in our individual attention to students in a flexible and sensitive environment that provides with skills upgrade training based on industry and City government agencies needs. We teach you to build from the ground up.

We have PHCC, NCCER, ABC, and Local Union Partners on our programs advisory committee. Our intent is to sustain the trades of America for the enrichment of our population’s living standards.

Program Topics

The SPC Plumbing Program provides students with a quality code directed occupational education to become competent entry-level professionals. The program fosters development of critical thinking, creative problem solving, personal growth, leadership abilities, and lifelong pursuit of learning in order to meet the ever-changing demands in industry. We train prospective plumbers to prepare for the basic State of Texas licensing requirements as: Apprentice Plumbers, Tradesman Plumbers, Journeyman Plumbers, and Master Plumbers. You can learn to do this type of residential work in as little as 4 weeks. Remember it is your career, learn to do it right the first time. Our instructors are National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) trained and certified. We know you will learn. You can earn a “Level Two NCCER Apprentice Certificate” by taking St. Philip’s courses PFPB 2409, 2436, and 2445.

St. Philip’s Plumbing program fosters development of critical thinking, creative problem solving, personal growth, leadership abilities, and lifelong pursuit of learning in order to meet the ever-changing demands in industry.

You will learn to install, replace, and remodel most plumbing fixtures for residential or commercial requirements in 16 weeks. You can earn a “Level One Apprentice NCCER Certificate” by taking St. Philip’s courses PFPB 1413 and 1450. We are also affiliated with Associated Builders and Contractors of South Texas (ABC) which is also a part of a national builders association.

The Plumbing Technology Program at St. Philip’s College offers program instruction in English only.

Plumbing Technology Program Physical/Health Requirements:

  1. Finger and Manual dexterity
  2. Ability to climb a step ladder or use a step stool, balance, stoop, kneel, and lift heavy loads (20 lbs.), reach over objects.
  3. Near visual acuity and depth perception
  4. Visual Color Discrimination-- The ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.

Note: Students with special needs must register with the Disability Resource Center prior to the beginning of classes.
