Our Mission
The Library's mission is to provide an educational environment which stimulates leadership, personal growth, and a lifelong appreciation for learning while focusing on the importance of being responsible to a population rich in its ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic diversity.
Circulation Desk
The Circulation Desk is located at the front entrance of the LRC. At the Circulation Desk, you are able to pay fines, check out library items, reserve items, check for holds and fines or fees, and print, pick up, and pay for copies.
Policies
Lending Policy:
Alamo Colleges Students: 10 items (limit 3 A/V resources)
Alamo Colleges Faculty: 15 items
Alamo Colleges Staff: 12 items (limit 3 A/V)
TexShare Visitor: 4 items (limit 1 A/V)
Junior Patrons: 2 items (limit 1 A/V)
Other Patrons: 2 items (limit 1 A/V)
Circulation, Fines and Fees
All fines must be paid in cash at the circulation desk. Money orders and cashier checks may be used to pay fines in the Business Office. Administrative Holds prevent students from registering if they owe library fines.
Books - Two weeks - renewable in 2 week periods until the end of the semester or until a hold or recall is placed on the material by another patron. Fine is .10 cents per book to a maximum fine of $25.00 per book.
Audio/Visual Material - One week - renewable in 1 week periods until the end of the semester or until a hold or recall is placed on the material by another patron. Fine is .50 cents per item up to a maximum fine of $25.00 per item.
Course Reserves - Material is choice of the instructor - 3 periods to choose from: "In-Library Use Only", "3 Day", or "'7 Day". No renewals or holds are permitted. Fine is .50 cents per day per item up to a maximum of $50.00 per item.
Charges for Lost Materials - Cost of the item plus $10 processing fee plus all accrued fines until the date the item is reported lost.
Charges for Damaged Materials - There is a $5 charge for EACH date due sticker, bar code, or other processing label that has been removed from the item or its container. Other charges will be assessed according to the amount of damage.

Community Patrons
Special library cards will be prepared at the Circulation Desk for community patrons, including public school students and children. Photo identification, preferably a Texas driver's license, is required from community patrons in order to receive a library card. Other official photo IDs, such as military or state, are accepted. Children and/or young people (under 18 years of age) require parental or classroom teacher authorization for a library card.
