Verification
St. Philip's College School Code: 003608
An incomplete financial aid file will stop the financial aid award process.
What is Verification?
Verification is a process to confirm information you provided on the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The U.S. Department of Education selects some FAFSA applications for verification. Others may be selected
by schools due to discrepancies in their data.
Why is my file being verified?
There are several possibilities for being selected for FAFSA verification. Keep in mind that more possibilities exist,
but the following are the main reasons for being selected:
- You were selected randomly
- The submitted FAFSA application has incomplete data
- The data on the FAFSA application appears to contradict itself
- The FAFSA application has estimated information on it
What if I'm selected?
If you have been selected for verification by the Department of Education through your Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA), you will need to provide additional documents to the Student Financial Services
office including but not limited to the following:
- Verification Worksheet
- Student's and/or spouse's previous year tax return or Non-Filer's form
- Parent's previous year tax return or Non-Filer's form
- Student, and/or spouse or parent's previous year W-2s
The sooner you verify your information, the sooner you'll be able to receive financial aid
if you're eligible.
