SPC Announce a Record Number of 2017 Presidential Scholarship Award Recipients

A college record eight 2017 St. Philip’s College Presidential Scholarship Award recipients were introduced during a recipient reception and banquet Sept. 28 at the student-run Artemisia's restaurant. The record 2017 cohort includes recipients William Bower (invasive cardiovascular technology), Amanda Campos (pre-nursing), Kasumi Chan (vocational nursing), Sonia Garcia (pre-nursing), Shawn Holder (criminal justice), Nicholas Lokey (automotive technology), Katrina King (business administration) and Monica Magana (diagnostic medical sonography).

Each recipient was awarded a scholarship based on a 4.0 GPA and an eight-month commitment to participate in a community service project. Recipients and guests were invited to the program that was hosted by St. Philip’s College President Dr. Adena Williams Loston and her cabinet.

The 2017 St. Philip’s College Presidential Scholarship recipients receive $1,500 in the fall semester and $1,500 in the spring semester for a total of $3,000. For details on the program, contact Gloria P. Hernandez, college scholarship coordinator, at 210-486-2498, ghernandez@alamo.edu.
