SPC Named Aspen Prize Nominee

St. Philip's College is among four colleges in the Alamo Colleges District system with Top 150 Finalist status in the nation's signature recognition of high achievement and performance in America's community colleges.

The performance excellence results are part of the 2019 Aspen Institute Prize for Community College Excellence competition process.

St. Philip's College was recognized by the institute for outstanding achievements in four areas: learning; certificate and degree completion; employment and earnings; and high levels of access and success for minority and low-income students.

After the institute identified the Top 150 finalists from the Top 1,000 finalist candidates in October, and the Top 10 finalists are announced in in May, the institute’s distinguished Prize Jury selects a grand prize winner, finalist(s) with distinction, and rising star(s) in spring 2019.

The grand prize is a $1 million award from the institute.
