Learn to identify, pronounce, and spell medical terms. In addition, word origin and structure will be examined through the introduction of prefixes, suffixes, root words, and plurals. Basic medical terminology used in hospital and pharmacy environments will also be explored.

The course will guide you along a journey to understand how the human body operates on a daily basis and how anatomy applies to the medical record. Get an introduction to health insurance and reimbursement as well as become familiar with the health insurance industry, legal and regulatory issues, and differences in reimbursement methodologies. Learn the principles of medical billing related to proper claim form preparation, submission and payment processing, as well as the follow- up process. This course is recommended for anyone who is preparing for a career in a medical billing department at a physician’s office, clinic, or similar positions. This course is strongly recommended for anyone who is preparing for the certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) examination. ICD-10-CM - POFM 2010

Overview of the guidelines and benefits of ICD- 10-CM, similarities and differences between ICD-  9  and ICD- 10. Application of basic coding rules, conventions, and guidelines. Suggested prerequisite: Medical Terminology


Learn the structure, format, and usage of CPT, as well as its guidelines and common problems.   Get introduced to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS Level II) and Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs). Learn to identify different nomenclatures, coding rules, and classification systems and assign codes using the application of basic coding rules. Prerequisite: Medical Terminology


This course will walk you through the coding competencies and skills in preparation for your coding certification exam.  you will perform self-assessments of coding competencies and resolve any learning gaps. You will be able to prepare for success with your certification exam review.
