In general, our courses require 80% attendance in order for participants to receive a Certificate of Completion from Alamo Colleges District. In some instances courses have attendance requirements beyond this percentage. Students should always make note of attendance requirements at the beginning of a course via their syllabus or direct conversation with the instructor. Be sure to ask about State Regulated courses that require a specific number of hours to qualify for a certification from a credentialing body.


A student may not audit a course or any portion thereof without first paying the entire tuition and fee.

Class Confirmation & Location

Students are responsible for confirmation of beginning dates and times 24 hours in advance of the start date. The student should check their ACES account and/or contact the college. 

Continuing Professional Education (CPEs)

The Workforce Training Network is approved by the State Board for Educator Certification to provide CPE activities to Educators for certificate renewal purposes. All Texas Educators who hold a Standard Certificate must renew it every five (5) years. As a condition of renewal, superintendents and principals will be required to complete 200 clock hours of CPE, and all other educators must complete 150 hours.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Course Certificates

The Workforce Training Network is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award CEUs for some courses. Satisfactory completion of ten clock hours of qualified instruction equals 1.0 CEUs. Transcripts listing CEU credits satisfactorily completed will be available upon request. Otherwise, a certificate of completion is awarded upon course completion.

Continuing Education (CE) to Credit

CE students will have the option to earn college credit for qualifying CE training which will lead towards an Associate's degree at any of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District network. A six-hour academic requirement must be met before the CE training can be transferred into college credit.

Course Cancellations

Courses are subject to cancellation if the predetermined minimum enrollment is not attained. If a class is canceled, every effort will be made to notify students by phone prior to the first class meeting. A full refund will be granted or the student may request to be transferred to another available class. Alamo Colleges District reserves the right to cancel classes, change times, dates and locations of course offerings. Students will be notified, whenever possible, by phone of date changes and time changes.


Many classes must be limited in size due to the nature of the subject matter and size of available facilities. Although most courses are open to students who feel they can benefit from the instruction, some courses are restricted to those students with specific prerequisites. In these instances, instructors will verify that students meet prerequisite requirements.

Financial Aid

Financial aid for Continuing Education is managed through the Texas Public Grant (TPEG). Students seeking financial assistance must follow the process outlined in our TPEG Website

Minimum Age

Continuing Education students are allowed to park in designated "student parking" free of charge.


Payment must be made 3 business days before class start date. Registration is not complete until payment is made.


Refunds are determined on the date the course registration is canceled. Any registration canceled prior to the first day of class will receive a full refund. Cancellation after the first day of class does not qualify for any refund. Registration can be canceled online via your ACES account. Refunds require up to 30 days to process. All tuition refunds for classes that are canceled for low enrollment will be processed at 100%. Classes must be dropped prior to the first class meeting for a refund. For other drops, a full refund will be awarded if a written or emailed request is received from the student prior to the first day of class.

Student Age

Professional Development and Continuing Education classes are primarily designed to serve adult learners. Students between the ages of 15 and 17 must have written parental permission and 13 -to 14- years-old students must have a parent enrolled in the same class. Some courses are designed especially for younger students, older students, or for a specific educational level. Requirements will be noted in the course description.
