Northwest Vista College, in collaboration with San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, participates for the first time in the 8th annual CORE4 STEM Family Day! This event is for middle school students and their families to learn about STEM careers in San Antonio and how one can start their pathway to a life of science, technology, engineering and math!

The CORE4 STEM Program is the largest STEM program in San Antonio and their mission is to stimulate students’ interest in the sciences, lead them to discoveries about their own potential in these areas and provide immersion in the excitement, surprise, and fun inherent in the sciences.

On November 4th, 2017, colleges and universities across the city of San Antonio are participating in CORE4 STEM Family Day.

Here at Northwest Vista College, we’re participating in the program by having our first Wildcat Family STEM Day!

The event, which will run 9 am to 1 pm, will start with registration and light morning snacks in the foyer of Mountain Laurel Hall

Then at 9:30, there will be Welcome Remarks, which will lead to the first workshop activity which will last between 10:00 to 10:30

Students and their families can choose between different presenters and their STEM topic. Students and families will then have ten minutes to rotate to a different presenter which will start their workshop at 10:40

At 11:10, the process will repeat, and students and families will have ten minutes to go to their last chosen workshop which will start at 11:20 and last till 11:50

At 12:00, there will be Closing Remarks and lunch for all

The presenters at our Wildcat Family STEM Day will be a variety of faculty from our college campus.
