Awards for Students with Justice Involvement

The Alamo Colleges Foundation and community partners provide funding for up to $500 per semester to support students with justice involvement that are pursuing a degree or credential at Alamo Colleges.

About the Program

The Alamo Colleges Foundation offers funding to support students that are justice involved and want to pursue their education at Alamo Colleges. 'Justice Involved' is defined as individuals having interactions with the criminal justice system as a defendant.

The initial award is up to $500 for one semester.  Renewal awards are based on satisfactory academic progress and fund availability.

Funds can be applied to direct costs like tuition or fees, or indirect costs like housing, transportation, food or childcare. 

 

Union Pacific "Back on Track" Award is based on the following criteria:

• must be enrolled at any of the Alamo Colleges;

• must be justice involved;

• must have completed the 9 week Turning Point Program through FREED Texas;

 • must enroll in at least 3 hours to receive funds;

 • pursuing an industry certification or degree in the following fields: CDL, Welding, Logistics, IT, Diesel Mechanics/Diesel Engineering;

Alamo Colleges Foundation "Second Chance" Award:

• must be enrolled at any of the Alamo Colleges;

• must be justice involved;

• must enroll in at least 3 hours to receive funds;

• must have completed the 9 week Turning Point Program through FREED Texas;
