
Alexis reed is not just striving for success—she is committed to excellence
Alexis Reed is the definition of determination. A full-time student, full-time worker, and aspiring mechanical engineer, Alexis is balancing a demanding academic schedule with multiple professional and extracurricular commitments—while still maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA and a place on the President’s List at San Antonio College.
Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Alexis moved to Texas at age 9 and has since built a life rooted in resilience, excellence, and a fierce commitment to learning. "I don’t just want to succeed—I aim to be the best at what I do,” Alexis says. And it shows.
Beyond the classroom, Alexis serves as the lead systems engineer on a NASA proposal team, gaining real-world technical experience in aerospace collaboration. They also mentor high school students as a robotics coach, investing in the next generation of STEM leaders. On top of that, Alexis works remotely as an office administrator while traveling part-time for NASCAR—proving that multitasking isn’t just a skill, it’s a lifestyle.
Now a student at San Antonio College majoring in Business Management with a Financial Management option, Tanatha is on track to graduate in May 2028. She brings her passion for learning to every aspect of her college experience. This semester, she set a professional goal to become a stronger public speaker and enhance her proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with an eye on a future in marketing. Academically, she is committed to improving her study habits through mentorship as part of the SAC Faculty-Student Mentor Program.

Receiving the Semmes Scholarship has been a game-changer. “My education has always been a major focus in my life, and I’m grateful that my dedication is recognized,” Alexis shares.
As she prepares to graduate with an associate degree and transfer toward a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, Alexis looks back on their time at Alamo Colleges with gratitude. “The support I’ve received has helped make all of this possible—not just for me, but for so many students chasing big goals.”
With passion, discipline, and a commitment to helping others along the way, Alexis Reed is not just building a career, she is building a future where innovation and mentorship go hand in hand.
