Bryan Taboas, a dedicated and high-achieving student at Northwest Vista College, is one of the proud recipients of the Semmes Foundation Scholarship—an award that recognizes top-performing STEM majors at Alamo Colleges who demonstrate exceptional academic merit.
With a 4.0 cumulative GPA, Bryan is pursuing a degree in Cyber Defense and actively working toward earning his CompTIA Security+ certification, which demonstrates proficiency in system security, network infrastructure, access control, and organizational security. He plans to strengthen his skill set and enhance his competitiveness in the ever-evolving IT field.
"Receiving this scholarship has lowered the financial burdens I am carrying, allowing me to focus more on my coursework. I am grateful for your assistance"
Bryan brings real-world experience to his studies, having worked for four years as a security guard. His work ethic and sense of duty extend beyond the workplace—he is a regular blood and platelet donor, motivated by the fact that his blood type is in short supply and can help save lives.
Bryan is also a first-generation college student, and his commitment to education is fueled by both personal and professional goals. He hopes to pay off his debts, support his parents, and be a positive role model for his niece and nephew. Professionally, he aims to become a specialist in IT and eventually join a leading tech company such as Rackspace, Google, or Amazon.
Through his academic excellence, service to others, and passion for technology, Bryan Taboas sets a powerful example of resilience and purpose. The support of the Semmes Foundation is helping him take the next step toward a successful future in cybersecurity and beyond.
