ACD Gives Students More Time To Complete AlamoPROMISE Steps
February 14, 2020
The Alamo Colleges District now has more than 7,000 high school seniors who have completed their “Save Your Seat” forms as the first step in becoming potential AlamoPROMISE Scholars.
The district and its colleges, along with community partners, have been working tirelessly to make the vision of AlamoPROMISE a reality this fall, when the first PROMISE Scholars will enroll at one of the district’s five colleges. The response to this program, which provides no-cost tuition and mandatory fees for Bexar County seniors graduating in 2020 from one of 25 participating high schools, has been tremendous.
Eligible students who completed the “Save Your Seat” form by February 14, now have until March 20, 2020 to complete the last two steps to become an AlamoPROMISE Scholar. The two steps are:
- Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) at http://www.thecb.state.tx.us/DocID/PDF%5C12712.PDF
- Apply to one of the colleges of the Alamo Colleges District using ApplyTexas at https://www.applytexas.org/adappc/gen/c_start.WBX
“It’s our goal to allow as many eligible students as possible to take advantage of the exceptional opportunity offered by AlamoPROMISE,” said Alamo Colleges District Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores. “We want to encourage students to complete all three steps so that they will be able to attend one of our colleges and benefit from the economic and social mobility a college education affords them,” he added.
Students who have questions or need assistance with financial aid forms or applying should contact the college they plan to attend. Additional information and eligibility requirements are available at alamo.edu/promise.
