Alamo Colleges District Provides Winter Weather Aid for Students
February 22, 2021
Last week, our entire community and state experienced extreme weather conditions and power and water outages that were catastrophic. Many San Antonians and those in the Alamo Colleges District family continue to face difficult situations resulting from the unprecedented winter storm.
The Alamo Colleges is committed to supporting its students, so we are providing a package of resources in response to this event.
Most importantly, we have established a Winter Weather Impact Fund that goes above and beyond our regular Student Impact Fund.
The Winter Weather Impact Fund is providing emergency aid resources to students who need temporary assistance in the following areas:
- Structural damage to home
- Weather-related housing displacement
- Loss of income due to weather
Learn more and apply to receive funds online at alamo.edu/winterimpact.
To help our students, anyone can donate to this fund at alamo.edu/about-us/offices-departments/departments/foundation/covid-19-student-support-fund/
Each of the Alamo Colleges' advocacy centers have resources such as food security, clothing, childcare, utility assistance, job assistance and counseling. To get connected to other advocacy services, students can call the Advocacy Center Helpline at 210-486-1111, Mon.-Thurs., 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The advocacy team is ready to connect students with their advocacy center or community resources as needed.
