On July 13, during the City of San Antonio’s “Movies by Moonlight” at Travis Park, the Alamo Colleges District launched Exploratory Days, a new, innovative way to bring information about the Alamo Colleges and its programs into the community to reach prospective students in their own neighborhoods.

The events will be fun, upbeat experiences outdoors where prospective students can take a career assessment or visit with representatives from the Alamo Colleges. Residents can get answers to their questions about job training, college readiness and enrollment and find out about next steps in a comfortable, informal setting.

To add to the value of the experience, professionals from a variety of growing fields will be on hand to engage in one-on-one discussions about their careers and the path that led them to them. Interactive games and activities will add an extra fun factor to helping prospective students get off to a great start, whatever their educational and career goals are. Whether they are looking for short-term training to prepare them for a high-wage, high demand career or want to earn an associate degree, Exploratory Days will point them in the right direction.

Exploratory Days events will be held outdoors at parks around the city through August 8. Events will focus on one of the AlamoINSTITUTES: Health & Biosciences; Science & Technology; Creative & Communication Arts; Business & Entrepreneurship; Advanced Manufacturing & Logistics; and Public Service, but information on all the many offerings at the district’s five colleges—St. Philip’s College, San Antonio College, Palo Alto College, Northwest Vista College and Northeast Lakeview College—will be available from friendly, knowledgeable staff.
