Join NLC in the MLK March!

The Northeast Lakeview College Community invites students, faculty, and staff to participate in the city of San Antonio's Martin Luther King Jr. March on Monday, January 20, 2020.  This year's NLC theme is a 'Day of Commitment to the Dream."


MLK Freedom Bridge; Pittman-Sullivan Park 
The March runs from MLK Academy (3500 MLK Drive) to Pittman-Sullivan Park (1101 Iowa Street)

All NLC student participants are asked to complete a Waiver Student Participants 

or you can stop by the Office of Student Life (STCM 132) to f

ill out the form in person. 

Things you need to know: 

  1. VIA is offering a round-trip shuttle service for the MLK March.  Ride VIA from St. Philip’s College (if planning to use the SPC shuttles, you are encouraged to arrive by 9:00 am to get to the designated March location by 9:30 am).  Click on the link to see the SPC campus map: 
    2.    If you plan to attend, please RSVP on Alamo Experience.
    3.    You are encouraged to wear your NLC gear to March. (look for NLC signs when you arrive)
  2. The first 200 participants to arrive at the MLK March will receive a free NLC Nighthawks Beanie!



On January 19, 1987, the Commission and the City of San Antonio held its first official Martin Luther King, Jr. March. Each year, a variety of educational, inspirational and celebratory events honor one of the nation's most revered civil rights leaders. San Antonio hosts the largest march in the nation, with approximately 300,000 participants.

This year's theme: "Continuing King's legacy of Justice, Peace, and Equality!"

The MLK March Route is 2.75 miles and starts at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy travels up Martin Luther King Drive and ends at Pittman Sullivan Park, all on the City’s historic East Side.
