This presentation focuses on Mexico’s first modern celebrity chef. Josefina Velázquez de León was a cook, teacher, researcher, and writer who published more than 150 cookbooks in her lifetime. Attendees will learn about Josefina Velázquez de León’s contributions to Mexico’s culinary scene as well as UTSA’s collection of her works in Special Collections’ Mexican Cookbook Collection.
Steph Noell is UTSA’s Special Collections Librarian, responsible for managing a collection of more than 40,000 rare books as well as the Special Collections instruction program. In their spare time, they get pulled into wrestling matches with their 5-year-old daughter and work tech on community theatre productions
