Abigail Cuevas 2019 Graduate
Ms. Abigail Cuevas represents the 2019 graduates and is this year’s SOAR Graduate. SOAR stands for Success, Opportunity,
Achievement, and Responsibility. Interested students apply for consideration and the student selected best represents these characteristics. As the 2019 SOAR graduate, Ms. Cuevas represented the Class 2019 at their graduation ceremony and provided commencement remarks
As a young mother, Abigail began her journey at Northeast Lakeview College seven months after the birth of her daughter. This gave her the determination to move forward and take every opportunity life presented.
She is the recipient of the LULAC Parent/Child Scholarship. Parent Scholars selected for this scholarship receive a $1,000 scholarship, provided by the Alamo Colleges Foundation. Once the parent completes their stated educational objective their child (a 2nd Generation Scholar) is entitled to a two-year scholarship to attend any of the Alamo Colleges upon the child’s high school graduation.
Abigail is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and part of the Women’s Volleyball Team. She also serves her community by being a volunteer for Junior Achievement and served in the Field Artillery Unit of the National Guard. Abigail is a candidate for graduation to receive her Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T). Her ultimate goal is to obtain a Master’s Degree, with experience at different levels and maybe one day, teach at the college level to prepare other teachers.
