Are classes cancelled at all of the Alamo Colleges District colleges?

All classes are cancelled March 16-20 as faculty and staff prepare to transition to working, teaching and learning remotely. Remote teaching and learning will begin Monday, March 23, so that students can continue their classes. We encourage students to monitor their alamo.edu email as well as www.alamo.edu/coronavirus for additional information.

How does this affect classes for students who attend Early College High School?

Any Early College High School cancellation information will come from your Early College High School contact directly.

How are the district and the colleges going to prepare the students to transition for working and learning remotely?

Faculty are using the extended Spring Break to train to teach and provide resources remotely. Specific communications will be shared with students, by their instructor to help ensure a seamless transition for success in their coursework.

Will students have to make up this extra week of Spring Break at the end of the semester?

The academic calendar is being reviewed and we will provide an update when it is finalized.

How long will these changes be in place? Will this be for the remainder of the semester?

We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed based on the risk level in Bexar County. Updates will be shared via alamo.edu email addresses and at alamo.edu/coronavirus.

How will Flex classes operate since they are already accelerated?

A Flex class should still be able to operate remotely. We recommend students monitor their alamo.edu email for communications from their instructor.

Will faculty and staff still be working on the college campuses?

Alamo Colleges District employees will be working modified schedules the week of March 16-20, which may include working on campus. Employee specific information has been shared via alamo.edu email.

Will lab classes or hands-on classes still take place?

We are working with the faculty directly to ensure a seamless transition for students to continue to achieve success in their coursework.

Does this apply to CTTC in New Braunfels or other satellite locations?

Yes. It currently applies to all of the Alamo Colleges District's locations, including campuses and off-site centers.

When will students be able to return to campus?

For the next two weeks, beginning March 23, students should not return to campuses for classes and will be instructed on how to continue classes and receive support remotely. Decisions regarding classes beyond that time will be made as appropriate.

If a student does not have a laptop or access to a laptop, what should the student do?

Leadership and faculty are working to make other means of access available for students without computer access. Please check with your instructor and check emails on your alamo.edu account.

What if I don’t have a laptop or computer? Will there be an alternative method of instruction provided?

We are working on a plan that includes providing some students loaner equipment. We will have more information on that plan in the upcoming days, but the demand for computers is very high across the country so securing inventory will take time.

Will this affect commencement?

No decision has been made regarding graduation. The district and each student’s college will keep them updated as we go forward.

Is parking lot Wi-Fi at the colleges limited to students of the Alamo Colleges?

The WiFI is available for Alamo Colleges students, faculty and staff.

Will students still be able to see their advisors?

Advisors will not be available in person but will be available remotely soon. Your advisor will reach out to reschedule any appointments missed over the extended spring break.
