Kaitlyn Legg was recognized at the October 2018 Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees meeting as the recipient of the La Prensa Foundation Student of the Month Scholarship. She received an award of $500 from the La Prensa Foundation.
Kaitlyn is part of the Business & Entrepreneurship Institute at Northeast Lakeview College. After earning 19 hours of dual credit through San Antonio College while she was in high school, she felt that attending a community college was a great next step. Kaitlyn is now on track to complete her associate of arts degree from Northeast Lakeview College this Fall.
At NLC, Kaitlyn is part of the Business Club and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Engaging in various civic and service opportunities, she volunteers at Wiederstein Elementary where she helps in a kindergarten class, ranging from reading to the kids and mentoring them. She also volunteers at the New Braunfels Food Pantry and participated in a week-long trip mission trip to Harlingen, TX. Most recently, inspired by the passing of her best friend’s mother, Kaitlyn joined the bone marrow registry list. She does all this while maintaining an A average and working.
Her nominator says “Kaitlyn demonstrates leadership qualities on a daily basis. She has shown excellent judgement in her life decisions, and takes the lead on numerous class projects to help both herself and her classmates succeed.”
After completing Northeast Lakeview College, Kaitlyn plans to transfer to Texas A&M University and enter into the Mays School of Business in College Station. Her next step is to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.
