Northeast Lakeview College, the newest institution in the Alamo Colleges District, officially opened its new Veterans Lounge on September 17 with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  The program included opening remarks by administration, an overview of the history and purpose of the facility, and student benefits.  The program concluded with a Ribbon Cutting and a tour of the lounge.

The VA Lounge will provide a space where Veterans attending Northeast Lakeview College can come together for coffee and camaraderie, and to exchange experiences. The lounge will provide opportunities for military connected students to interact with subject matter experts on veteran benefits, academic institutes and off campus resources.  Monthly coffee and doughnuts meet ups will also provide additional academic support to increase engagement for our student Veterans and provide avenues to increase completion and retention rates.

“The Veterans Lounge is an added service to support our student Veterans and we are delighted to provide this benefit to help our students succeed”, says Dr. Veronica Garcia, Northeast Lakeview College president.

Northeast Lakeview College is a Veteran-friendly campus and certifies students to use their Post 9-11 GI Bill, Chapter 35 Survivor benefits, and Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation benefits.  For more information on Veterans Benefits at Northeast Lakeview College, visit the Veterans Affairs webpage.
