Northeast Lakeview College Student Recognized as January 2023 Student of the Month

Brianna Jones is the January 2023 AlamoPROMISE Student of the Month and was recognized at the January Alamo Colleges District Board meeting on January 24.  Ms. Jones is a graduate of Wagner High School and is currently a student at Northeast Lakeview College in the Health & Biosciences AlamoINSTITUTE. 

Brianna is a first-generation student who says she made the mistake of applying to colleges late and was unaware of how much they actually cost. “I am so grateful for AlamoPROMISE,” she says. “It is helping me cover my tuition costs, and helped me financially.“

Overcoming many challenges, including being homeless, she is grateful just to be a college student, thinking college would not be possible.  She wants to make the most of her college experience, including volunteering, creating a women’s empowerment club, and being involved in campus activities so that she can network and make connections.

Brianna plans to graduate from NLC and then transfer to the University of Texas at San Antonio as part of the BOLD Promise program. Her ultimate goal is to become a plastic surgeon to help people feel beautiful within their bodies. Congratulations, Brianna!
