The colleges of the Alamo Colleges District will be serving students remotely beginning March 23 due to COVID-19, the Coronavirus. Please be aware that in-person visits at all of our locations are temporarily suspended.  You may communicate with our department via email, nvc-assessment@alamo.edu.

Unfortunately, Examity, the only company allowed to provide online proctoring service for the TSI Assessment is temporarily down due to COVID-19. Therefore, test-takers will not be able to access their online proctoring services until further notice. We will update our website whenever Examity resumes online proctoring of the TSI Assessment. In the meantime, please be sure to complete the previous enrollment steps leading up to the TSI.

The CLEP administration has been suspended and does not allow the option for examinees to take it from home.  Most colleges have closed their campus but you may seek other testing centers to contact for availability at   https://clep.collegeboard.org/test-center-search.  You may visit https://clep.collegeboard.org/coronavirus-updates regarding purchased CLEP Registration Tickets close to expiration.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we transition to serve you remotely!

Make-ups and Accommodations

In an effort to provide college personnel and students an opportunity to complete their educational goals, the Testing Center is available for use to administer instructor make-up exams

  • We offer proctoring services for make-up exams with courses taken through Alamo Colleges. At this time we do not have the ability to perform correspondence testing with institutions outside of the Alamo Colleges.

For students testing in our office:

If you are a student taking an exam in our office, please review our hours specific to Instructor Exams here.

When you arrive to take your make-up exam, the following item will be required:

    • Valid Photo ID

The following unapproved items will not be allowed into the test room unless your instructor states otherwise:

    • purses/backpacks
    • cell phones/other electronic devices
    • books

Please be advised to leave these items in a safe place while testing. We offer on a first-come, first-served basis, coin return lockers (You will need a quarter to use these lockers, the quarter will be returned to you after use). The Testing staff is not responsible for holding items and you will not be allowed to test with any unapproved items in the test room.

  • We are happy to serve all NVC students needing testing accommodations who are registered with our Access Office. If you have not met with them yet, please make sure to do so at your earliest convenience. Establishing yourself with the Access Office will allow us to provide you with the accommodations you need. In order to test in our Office your instructor will need to submit an "Exam Information Form" which can be downloaded by clicking HERE

    Testing Accommodations

The Testing Center offers reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities by providing the following services:

    • Document Conversion (alternate print formats)
    • Computer Technology assistance
    • Reader/Scribe
    • Extra time/ability to split up sittings

Most Accommodations can be met without making an appointment, however there are exceptions:

    Reader/Scribe

If you are preparing to take an exam in our testing lab and need a reader/scribe, please contact us via phone at 210-486-4346 or via email at nvc-assessment@alamo.edu at least 4 days in advance so that we may secure a reader/scribe for you.

As an alternative to a human reader/scribe, we also have Kurzweil reading software. It is quick to set-up and easy to use. If you are comfortable using our reading software, no appointment will be necessary.
