About the Program
The Advanced Materials Technology program will prepare students for careers in emerging nanotechnology industries as entry-level nanotechnicians in research and development corporations, nanofabrication, nanobiology/agriculture, nanomedicine, nanoelectronics, and nanomaterials.
The program will give graduates the knowledge, skills and abilities to operate a variety of nanofabrication equipment, understand scientific principles and the behavior of matter at the atomic level in chemical, biological and molecular systems, and "wet" and "dry" nanotechnology applications.
If you are interested in learning more about nanotechnology, a fundamental course of "NANO1301--Introduction to Nanotechnology" is highly recommended.
About the Program Coordinator: Dr. Neda Habibi
Dr. Habibi has a PhD in Nano-biotechnology specializing in Bionanomaterials and drug delivery. She received her PhD degree from the University of Genova, Italy in 2012. From 2012 to 2016, she was the Assistant Professor in Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Institute at Isfahan University of Technology, Iran.
She is an alumna of the Division of Engineering in Medicine and Renal Division of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital at Harvard University where she was visiting Assistant Professor at Dr. Shafiee Laboratory. From 2016, she has been a research assistance professor in the BioMedical Engineering Department at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
Her works have been published in prestigious journals such as NanoToday, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research and Collides and Surfaces. She has 5+ years of experience as an assistant professor and in interacting with graduate and undergraduate students, establishing her research area, collaboration with other faculty members as well as industrial partners and fundraising.
