Ambitious Texas Panhandle native, self proclaimed "movement enthusiast" Libbie Horton has been paving her way through the Texas Hill Country dance scene since 2020. She has worked with notable choreographers such as Jennifer Sherburn, Noble Motion, Tanesha Payne, and Sharon Marroquin, to name a few. Horton's work has been featured in Psalm 149 Dance Film Festival, Austin Dance Hub, and Austin Community College. Leaning to architecture, landscapes, and negative space to design her visions, storytelling through "authentic living" is where she draws her inspiration.
Other notable projects include Hillshapes Productions, a company established by Horton and composer Kä Neunhoffer. Proclaimed as "the female Merce Cunnningham and John Cage", the dynamic duo collaborates to create works ranging from live performances to screen dances.
Libbie currently lives in Kerrville, Texas- spreading the joy of dance and advancing the scope of dance entertainment/training within her community. She is an Event Coordinator for Arcadia Live Theatre, and teaches dance to many of the Kerrville youth.
Each semester, our Guest Artist in Residency program offers students a unique opportunity to connect directly with professionals in the arts. Through this program, Northwest Vista College Repertory Dance Ensemble, Vista's student-based dance company, will showcase an original choreographed piece to be performed in the upcoming Dance@VISTA concert at the end of the semester.
