Community Math SDEV Courses
NVC SDEV FOR EDUCATION MAJORS
In this program, Education majors will take Student Development (SDEV) courses infused with Growth Mindset math skills/topics. The tailored course helps future teachers know what they will be studying in upcoming Education courses.

Tutoring Programs & Workshops for NVC Students
PROGRAMS
PEER TUTORING PROGRAM
As a Peer Tutor, we will enhance your math skills by placing you in a MATH 1314 course where you will host tutoring sessions for those students during and outside of that class.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Passed MATH 1314 with a "B" or better with a faculty recommendation.
- Have your instructor send a Statement of Recommendation to the Peer Tutor coordinator.
- Score at least a "70" on the arithmetic pre-test.
Peer Tutors earn $500 per semester.
ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS
NVC MATH ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP
This online workshop is aimed to help you understand your current math knowledge and is a requirement if you want to participate in our Peer Tutor program.
In this workshop, you'll also learn about and work on math concepts that you will be teaching in your future classrooms.
All Education majors are eligible to enroll.

NVC SPANISH ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP
In this workshop delivered online, you'll learn how to better teach in a community of Spanish-speaking individuals.
This workshop will help you learn and teach math in Spanish.
All Education majors are eligible to enroll.

NVC INVESTIGATE YOUR LEARNING/PSYCHOLOGY OF LEARNING WORKSHOP
In this workshop, you'll study and work on the foundations of learning.
Open to all majors, however, ONLY Education majors are eligible for stipends.

In our Community of Educators program, you'll get to learn about your future profession by attending monthly meetings with NVC faculty, staff, principals from various school districts, and your fellow peers - all to help you get prepared for life in your own classroom!
