Road to Success Requirements
Northwest Vista College is dedicated to helping students and supporting them in their academic achievement. The Academic Standards Team offers a variety of resources to assist students. The Road to Success modules are designed to help students returning from 2nd Academic Dismissal develop and practice strategies for success and develop academic skills and personal attributes.
There are five Road to Success modules offered at this time. Students are required to participate in the specified modules pertaining to their factors identified on the Petition for Waiver of Academic Dismissal and approved by the interviewing advisor. All modules are online in Canvas and can be done on your own time. Once your petition is approved, the advisor will add you to Canvas- and you will need to accept your invitation to complete the modules.
Module Assessments are required to be submitted by the deadline. Non submission will result in students having to sit out for a 16-week semester. Deadlines are provided below.

Personal responsibility and motivation is the key to college success. Often times you may find yourself falling short of what lies in between the two. This module will focus on tips you can utilize to help you achieve your goals and taking responsibility for your own actions.
This module will help you chart a course for your academic achievement and goals. The process begins with organizing and planning for your future.
Have you ever wondered how, after hours of going over notes and materials, you still can’t remember what you need to know? It turns out that many of the most commonly used learning strategies just don’t work. This module will provide you with tips and strategies to make your learning and studying more effective!
The module will emphasize leadership theories, personal and leadership values, team building and goal setting. These skills should introduce you to a leadership style that you can continue to grow on and apply in life.
Reducing stress in your everyday life is vital for maintaining your overall health, as it can improve your mood, boost immune function, promote longevity and allow you to be more productive. This module will provide you with important information to help you tackle this.

The Petition for Academic Dismissal Packet is now available. The deadline to complete the petition process for the fall 2019 semester is as follows:

Absolute Last Day to Submit
August 12th, 2019
Students who complete all steps of the petition process by the priority deadline are guaranteed a dismissal interview.
Students who submit their packet after August 5th up to August 12th are reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis in order of process completion, and are scheduled for dismissal interviews until all SDEV0171 courses and dismissal interview sessions are filled.
