Pre-Petition Information Sessions
Academic Dismissal Petition Process
* Pre-Petition Information Sessions are no longer available for the fall 2019 semester. Please check back November 1st for information regarding the spring 2020 session offerings.
Northwest Vista College is always seeking ways to improve the Academic Dismissal Petition Process for our students. As of Spring 2017, we require students petition to return from Academic Dismissal to attend a Pre-Petition Information Session as part of the Petition process.
During this session, we will discuss the following items:
- How to complete the Petition for Waiver of Dismissal packet
- How to submit the packet
- What to expect in the Dismissal Interview
- Student Responsibilities if Approved to Return
Pre-Petition Information Sessions
Be prepared! Please bring paper and a pen to write with. This is important information.
These sessions are designed to help the students understand the requirements of the dismissal petition and what to expect while in the Dismissal Interview. If the student has a packet with them, the packet will be reviewed to ensure that all requirements have been met, and if the student is eligible, will be able to have an interview scheduled at that time. If students do not have a packet, or the packet is incomplete, they will be able to discuss the packet requirements and be able to submit the packet by e-mail to the Academic Standards team after attending a session.
We are offering several sessions to be able to accommodate as many students as possible. All petitioning students must attend a session before a dismissal interview will be scheduled. To reserve a seat for any of the following sessions, please RSVP online at https://alamo.campuslabs.com/engage/
On the home page, please enter "Northwest Vista College Advising" on the search bar- select NVC Advising under "Organizations"
