PRE-NURSING COHORT AT NORTHWEST VISTA COLLEGE SAVES TIME AND MONEY

Students Prepare for Competitive Professional Nursing Programs

The brand new accelerated Pre-Nursing Cohort at Northwest Vista College (NVC) assists students preparing for acceptance into professional nursing programs while earning a degree in 24 months, saving up to $1,188. The Cohort learning community includes automatic course enrollment, NVC Society of Aspiring Nurses (SAN) membership and exclusive academic support.

Students in this pilot program will have a personal faculty mentor, be invited to special events with guest speakers, nursing school tours, and belong to a group of students who are preparing for nursing school together.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the national job outlook for registered nurses will grow by 7% over the next 10 years, above the average growth rate for all occupations. BLS also estimates that the mean annual wage for registered nurses in the San Antonio-New Braunfels area is $72,410 and $109,550 for nurse practitioners. https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes_41700.htm

Students in this program will take 60-61 credit-hours leading to an Associate of Science Degree that will prepare them for acceptance into professional nursing schools. Interested students can contact Cindy Magruder at cmagruder@alamo.edu for program information, application and interview.
