Steps for applying to the Alamo Colleges
If you prefer to get started on your own with the application process, follow these step-by-step instructions for first-time-in-college students.
Start your college application today!STEP 1: Find your online program.
Start your application process by visiting the search online offerings to view the various fully online programs and other offerings available at our five Alamo Colleges. Once you find an online offering, make a note of the College and the AlamoINSTITUTE, then proceed to the next step. STEP 2: Apply for admission.
Submit your application for admission at www.goapplytexas.org for one of our Alamo Colleges—Northeast Lakeview College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, St. Philip's College, and San Antonio College. If you plan to attend fully online, please respond ‘YES’ on page 5 to “Online Courses Only?”. For step-by-step instructions, use the AlamoENROLL—Ready, Set, Apply! guide. Please allow 5 days for processing. STEP 3: Get help paying for college.
Step 3: Get help paying for collegeSubmit your Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov. For more information, visit our Financial Aid webpage. For information about scholarships, visit our Alamo Colleges Foundation. For military-affiliated students STEP 4: Submit transcripts and documents.
To be admitted into one of our Alamo Colleges, you will need to send your unopened, official transcripts or have your previous institution submit your official transcript electronically. For a complete list of addresses and electronic options, click on SUBMITTING A TRANSCRIPT. High school seniorsSubmit an official transcript with your test scores and graduation date following graduation. Home school studentsSubmit a notarized transcript of your high school equivalent work and graduation date. GED graduates outside the USSubmit your official GED certificate with scores from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). |
Once you get your Next Steps email, you can:STEP 5: Log in to ACES.
Once you receive your Next Steps email, you can log in to ACES. ACES is the online center for all your student information. You will be able to register for classes, review your financial aid, and pay your tuition. To log in, visit aces.alamo.edu. You can find the login instructions on the ACES login page. If you have issues, please contact the helpdesk using the numbers listed on the ACES login page. STEP 6: Activate AlamoNAVIGATE!
AlamoNAVIGATE is not available to Dual Credit, Early College High School, or Alamo Academies students. AlamoNAVIGATE is your personalized event path that displays specific to-dos for registration. After you log in to ACES, click the "Start Here" tab to access AlamoNAVIGATE and begin following your path. Download the Navigate app at iTunes or Google Play. AlamoNAVIGATE is not available to Dual Credit, Early College High School, or Alamo Academies students. STEP 7: Submit proof of bacterial meningitis.
All students, age 22 and younger, must submit proof of the bacterial meningitis vaccination. Students enrolled fully online are exempt and must complete a waiver for an exemption each semester. To submit documentation, visit AlamoNAVIGATE and select “Turn in Shot Record.” STEP 8: Complete the Go FAARR and test prep modules.
All students entering one of our Alamo Colleges must complete the Go FAARR module. In AlamoNAVIGATE select “Complete Go FAARR Module.” To get ready for your TSI placement test, select “Complete Test Prep” in AlamoNAVIGATE. STEP 9: Take your placement test and refreshers, if required.
Take your TSI placement test to determine your placement in college-level math and writing. To schedule your TSI at one of our Alamo Colleges, visit AlamoNAVIGATE and select the event path “Take your Placement Test.” Depending on your TSI test results, you may be required to take refresher courses. Step 10: Complete New Student Orientation (NSO) and meet with a Certified Advisor before registering for courses.
To schedule your NSO session, visit your College’s NSO webpage: All new and transfer students are required to attend NSO. Step 11: Meet with a Certified Advisor before registering.
Log in to AlamoNAVIGATE and select “Meet with an advisor before registering” for advising information at your college. All new and transfer students are required to attend advising. STEP 12: Pay your bill.

Your first day and the first week of classes provide you with the tools to succeed for the rest of the semester. Attend class and become an active learner in your courses. This effort will benefit your grades and advance your goals. To avoid getting dropped from your course, attend the first day of class. |
