The Texas Veterans Commission presented Palo Alto College with the Gold 2022 Veterans Education Excellence Recognition Award (VEERA) for the second year in a row and the second year of the award’s existence.

VEERA recognizes universities and colleges that provide excellence in education and related services that significantly contribute to the academic success of student veterans and military-connected students.

“I’d like to thank our Veterans Affairs staff for their hard work and dedication in serving our military-affiliated students. This recognition is a testament to their work in supporting PAC’s mission: To inspire, empower and educate our community for leadership and success,” said Senior Coordinator of Veterans Affairs Vincent Bosquez. “We are also fortunate to have the support of our college leadership, faculty, and staff—this award is truly a PAC team effort!”

Palo Alto College’s Veterans Affairs (VA) program serves approximately 800 students each fall and spring semester, with a dedicated office providing services to student veterans and collaborating with other departments to maximize student veteran success.

The VA team helps veterans fully understand their VA educational benefits as well as resources available to them while enrolled at Palo Alto College, such as:

  • Computer lab and resources
  • Food, recreational activities, lending library
  • Priority/early registration, fee waivers
  • Enrollment-to-graduation advisement
  • VA work-study
