Student COVID-19 Vaccine Recognition Program

To encourage more students to get vaccinated against COVID-19, the Alamo Colleges District established a Student COVID-19 Vaccine Recognition Program for students who become fully vaccinated against COVID-19 between Sept. 15 and Nov. 22, 2021, and report their vaccination status.

Eligible students who become fully vaccinated and report their vaccination status during the program period will receive $50 through their student account.

Who is eligible?

All students enrolled at the Alamo Colleges District for the Fall 2021 semester, including:

  • Full-time and part-time students

  • Dual credit students

  • Students enrolled in credit and/or non-credit courses

  • Students who become fully vaccinated between Sept. 15–Nov. 22, 2021

Where can I get vaccinated?

The COVID-19 vaccine is now available to individuals ages 12 and up in Texas, and it is available free of charge for individuals with and without insurance. There are several vaccination clinics happening across the region including some of the Alamo Colleges. Find a vaccination site nearby by clicking one of the links below.

What is the deadline to report my vaccination?

Students can report their vaccination and be eligible for the incentive through 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021.

 

FAQs About the Student COVID-19 Vaccine Recognition Program

How do I report my vaccination?
  • Log into ACES at aces.alamo.edu
  • Click the Student tab, then click Web Services in the Student Self-Service section.
  • Click the Student Records link under the main menu.
  • Click on the Covid-19 Immunization link
  • Enter your COVID-19 vaccine information.
    • Select the type of vaccine you received.
    • Select the date you received the vaccine.
      • Moderna or Pfizer: Enter the date of your second shot
      • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson): Enter the date of shot
  • Once you have entered your vaccine information, click the submit button at the bottom of the screen. (Note: You will not be allowed to submit a blank form or a form that has a future date for your vaccination shot.)
  • After you submit your vaccine information, you will see that you have an existing COVID-19 vaccine record
What does it mean to be fully vaccinated?

Full vaccination is determined by the type of vaccine you receive: One dose of Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) or two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. Any student who becomes fully vaccinated between Sept. 15 – Nov. 22, 2021 can participate in the program.

Can I participate if I have not been vaccinated yet?

Yes. Individuals who have not been vaccinated yet can participate, but you must become fully vaccinated between Sept. 15 – Nov. 22, 2021. This means you must either get the single-shot Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine, or two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. If you get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, you must plan ahead because you are required to wait at least 21 days between shots for Pfizer and 28 days between shots for Moderna.

What if I received one of the two shots required with a Pfizer or Moderna Vaccine before Sept. 15?

If you received one of the two shots required to be fully vaccinated with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, you are still eligible to participate. Program eligibility requires students to become fully vaccinated during the program period. You are still eligible so long as you receive the second shot within the timeframe of Sept. 15–Nov. 22, 2021.

Are the vaccines safe?

Millions of people in the U.S. have safely received one of the available COVID-19 vaccines. For more information on vaccinations and their efficacy, you can visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.

What if I don’t want to get vaccinated?

This is a voluntary program. This means that getting vaccinated and participating in the vaccine recognition program is entirely up to you. Only students who submit proof of full vaccination will be eligible to receive the monetary incentive.

How will the Alamo Colleges use the information I submit?

Participation in the Student COVID-19 Vaccine Recognition Program is entirely voluntary and based on your personal preference. To process payments of the incentive, participants will need to voluntarily report their vaccination in ACES and consent to sharing the information with the Alamo Colleges to determine eligibility for payment.

How much money will I receive by submitting my proof of vaccination?

Eligible students can collect $50 for becoming fully vaccinated during the program period of Sept. 15 – Nov. 22, 2021.

How will I know I got the incentive?

Once documentation has been verified, students will receive an email verifying receipt of information. Please note that verification may take a few days.

Can I choose how I get my $50?

Once process and verified, it can be processed as a refund to you based on your selection in ECSI.

The incentive can be processed as: 

  • Direct deposit to your existing bank account on file with ECSI, or
  • If not signed up for direct deposit, a check will be mailed to your current address on file in ACES.

Is this program limited to a certain number of students?

The Student COVID-19 Vaccine Recognition Program is funded by federal emergency aid provided to the Alamo Colleges. The program will continue as long as funding is available or through Nov. 22, 2021 – whichever comes first.
