Saturday at SAC Launches
Starting in Fall 2017, students at the Alamo Colleges District’s largest college, San Antonio College (SAC), will be able to earn an associates degree entirely on Saturdays in only two years.
Currently, the Saturday @ SAC program offers three associate degrees: Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice, Associate of Arts in Business Administration, and Associates of Applied Science in Computer Programming.
"At San Antonio College, we recognize that while people want to improve their lives by earning a degree, they can be challenged to fulfill that goal due to the demands of their life and having to work during the week” said Vice President of Academic Success, Dr. Jothany Blackwood. “We truly want to support every person to fulfill their dreams of an education so we have created an innovative option called Saturday @ SAC, which allows students to complete their degree in two years through online courses and in-person instruction only on Saturdays.”
Saturday @ SAC utilizes a “hybrid” model to deliver the content for each of the degrees, with a guarantee that SAC will provide the courses needed to complete the necessary coursework in exactly two years.
Cohorts will take four courses a semester utilizing the Flex I and Flex II 8-week sessions and Summer. All classes will meet face-to-face on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to Noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Throughout the week, assignments will also be completed via the online classroom, CANVAS.
Enrollment is now open for all Saturday @ SAC degrees. To get started with the enrollment process, interested students can visit the Tino & Millie Welcome Center on SAC’s campus at the corner of N. Main and W. Park Ave.
