SAC Recognized Among Top Online Community College Programs

San Antonio College has been recognized as having one of the top online community college programs in the nation according to BestColleges.com, a leading source of information on higher education preparation and college planning resources.

The ranking by BestColleges.com, updated annually, lists accredited, not-for-profit two-year colleges that offer affordable and quality online degree programs. According to BestColleges.com, SAC has improved by five rankings this year and is now among the top 40 community colleges in 2019.

BestColleges.com bases the methodology of their rankings in statistical data available from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and College Navigator. In addition, it also takes into account a college’s academic quality, affordability, and online competency.

San Antonio College offers more than 200 college credit online courses that meet core curriculum requirements for an online Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Applied Science degree. Both degrees are approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which oversees the accreditation for SAC and the rest of the Alamo Colleges District.

Programs that offer online courses at SAC include:

• Social & Behavioral Sciences

The Alamo Colleges District also offers Alamo Online, an educational, web-based program that can help a variety of students including those who have never attended a college or university, students with some college credit but no degree, students returning to the Alamo Colleges District who have not been enrolled in more than a year, and students looking to start their college career with the goal of transferring to a four-year college or university.
